Leisure in the Greenzone

Imagine yourself going for a morning run in a natural reservoir or having a round on the golf course at the end of your working day. Or how about relaxing at one of the fine restaurants in the center? The natural green surroundings will allow you to unwind after a hard day. Relaxation, calmness and exciting activities are what leisure in the Greenzone of Eindhoven is all about. When you choose to live in the Greenzone, you choose the best of both worlds! 

 

Sports

When you’re looking to be part of the local community, joining one of the many sports clubs is the answer. The national sports football (red. soccer) would be the most effective way to get to know a lot of your future, fellow residents. But of course, there is no obligation here. Aside from football, in every community you can also join a golf club, tennis club, hockey club (and many times other sports clubs) and you can always just go out by yourself/ with your family for a run, hike or cycling. Cycling is the best way to explore your new surroundings and nature the Dutch way. (By the way, did you know there are more bicycles in the Netherlands then inhabitants?). Don’t forget that the Greenzone of Eindhoven offers many forests and small lakes to enjoy. Just strolling in the surroundings can already be an amazing experience for you and/or your family.

 

Nature

The communities of the Greenzone is situated in outers filled with forests and moorland, for example to the southwest the Landschotse Heide, but also the Cartierheide. A 390 acres wide conservancy area, where passionate nature lovers can easily unwind and explore. Widely spread forests, colorful moorlands, winding creeks and trackways for kilometers long will take you through the Belgian borderland. The Buikheide, situated on the north-eastern side of Vessem, consist of the conservancy area of Groot- en Kleinmeer, is amazingly beautiful, as well as the area of Kleine Beerze. In all these conservancy areas you’ll find signage hiking courses with a total length of 1500 km. These examples are only a fraction of what the Greenzone of Eindhoven has to offer in its totality.

 

Many of the communities have been praised for its natural surroundings. The above examples account to the community of Eersel, which has been announced as the hiking community of The Netherlands in 2014. Hiking in the area of Eersel is not just hiking, it’s adventuring. How about some geocaching with only GPS coordinates in Steensel, in a quest for a real treasure. Four tracks, specially developed for the experience of exploring can be found in Vessem, where you’ll discover a load of remarkable sights and activities. Other communities have been elected to be “the greenest village of Europe”, and the “greenest village of the Netherlands”. Therefore, living and leisure in the Greenzone of Eindhoven is the answer to find calmness when working in the city. 

 

Trips

The Greenzone is centrally positioned as it comes to amazing cities or sightseeing trips. Within 1.5-hours you can find yourself in either Amsterdam, Bruxelles, Antwerp, Utrecht or the typically Dutch towns of Volendam or Zaanse Schans. And how about a day on the Dutch beaches in Zeeland? Families can add amusement park “Efteling” to their to-visit list. One of the best amusement parks in Europe at only 30 minutes from the Greenzone.
