History

People already temporarily settled in during 12.000BC-10.000BC. During the New Stone Age people settled in permanently. Archeological findings testify to the importance of Son’s centrum during the Roman Empire. The current village center developed somewhere between the 12th and 14th century. Napoleon had an important role in creating the community, as, during his reign, the two village center were united into one community. During the 19th century, the area was predominantly an agricultural community. Nowadays, especially Son has a lot of industry. Also, a big business park resides in the area, hosting among others the Science Park Eindhoven.

The community is relatively calm, some things can be undertaken:

  • Son en Breugel is a community in which it is especially nice to enjoy nature. The surrounding area is characterized by lots of green.
  • Moreover, it is located just outside of Eindhoven. A trip to the city center takes less than 15 minutes, therefore it is the ideal location to live, while still having the benefits of the city life.
