History

Prehistoric graves account for the area being inhabited since the Stone Age. The village Oirschot exists for over 1500 years. In 1997AD, the community added extra villages to the community. The community is favorable for entrepreneurs, as it is conveniently located between Eindhoven Tilburg and ‘s-Hertogenbosch.

The area has several things to do:

The area is filled with monuments. In it, more than 300 monuments are to be found.
Monasteries, churches, and chapels can be found.
The furniture industry of Oirschot created Europe’s biggest chair, called the “de Grote Stoel’
The community has eleven nature reserves, one functions as a military practice terrain, however, the others are suitable for outdoor activities and relaxation.
More than five museums can be visited.
Oirschot has an annual country weekend.

Fun fact:

It remains a mystery where the name Oirschot originated from. One theory is that a “schoot” stands for a higher swampy area, at which the Oeros had its army.
